Health Centers & Affiliates
University of ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº Health, the state’s only public academic health system, is comprised of MU Health Care, the School of Medicine, Sinclair School of Nursing and College of Health Sciences. Together, they offer health education paths, including pre-medicine, medicine, nursing, psychology and the allied health professions.
, the clinical enterprise, offers a full spectrum of care, ranging from primary care to highly specialized, multidisciplinary treatment for patients with the most complex medical conditions. Committed to collaboration, research and innovation, MU Health Care has more than 8,000 physicians, nurses and health care professionals in over 80 specialties working together to give patients seamless care with the most advanced treatments and safest procedures. Serving more than 350,000 patients each year from ÑÇÖÞӰԺ’s 114 counties and beyond, MU Health Care facilities include Capital Region Medical Center, Children’s Hospital, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, Keene Street Medical Center, the ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº Orthopaedic Institute, ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº Psychiatric Center and University Hospital, as well as more than 80 quick care, urgent care, primary care and specialty clinic locations. As one of only two tier-one safety net hospitals in the state, MU Health Care provides millions of dollars in uncompensated and charity care each year.
The University of ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº System (UM System) helps to deliver health care throughout ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº. Some examples include UMSL’s , which provides eye care to thousands of children and adults. Residents in rural ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº have access to MU Health Care’s mobile mammography unit, which visits more than a dozen communities quarterly. And in Kansas City—home to the state’s only dental school—underserved children and adults receive dental care through Partnership for Smiles.
In addition, the UM System is a leader in the adoption of medical technology. The (MTN) provides individuals with limited health care access, especially rural residents, with access to MU Health Care’s wealth of specialists. Show-Me ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes), a program through MTN, uses videoconferencing to connect interdisciplinary teams of experts with primary care clinicians and other professionals, primarily in health care professional shortage areas in rural ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº. They collaborate in interactive case-based learning to develop advanced skills and best practices, which improves patient care access, quality and efficiency.

Telehealth Network
Through the advanced technology of the , clinical expertise is made available in underserved areas throughout ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº.
Telehealth is a means of delivering medical information and health care through the use of telecommunication technologies. Through videoconferencing, a patient can have a live, real-time interaction with a clinician, almost as if they are in the same room. The clinician is able to obtain sufficient examinations of patients by questioning them about their symptoms, and by using electronic diagnostic equipment and other peripheral cameras.
The ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº Telehealth Network began in 1994 as a 10-site network; today, there are over 200 endpoints in 56 ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº counties.
MOREnet Member Sites
Organized as a membership consortium in 1991, the operates as a department within the University of ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº System. In addition to managing and maintaining a robust and secure statewide fiber network, including connecting all four of the UM System campuses, MOREnet explores and provides technology solutions that enable innovation and opportunity to more than 700 ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº community anchor institutions (K-12 schools, colleges and universities, public libraries, nonprofits and more).
While providing technical services including cybersecurity, network consulting, technical support, hosted and managed applications, professional development and access to a number of online resources, MOREnet actively researches emerging technologies to benefit consortium members and create a higher quality of life for all ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôºans.

The UM System has the resources and expertise to move small businesses forward and help owners succeed. Sponsored by University of ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº Extension, support businesses at every stage of their lifecycle with expert guidance, confidential one-on-one counseling, and statewide accessibility. Its specialists provide assistance in areas such as management, marketing, technology commercialization, and exporting, helping companies innovate, grow, and reach global markets. By fostering business development through advising, training, and specialized services, the ÑÇÖÞÓ°Ôº SBDC strengthens local economies and contributes to job creation across the state.
